Prof. Hesham El-Daly
Consultant Histopathologist & Haematopathologist
Professor Hesham El-Daly is a Consultant Histopathologist and Haematopathologist with over 20 years of international clinical, academic, and research experience in diagnostic pathology. He is currently Consultant Histopathologist at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust and Visiting Professor of Clinical Pathology at Cairo University.
Professor El-Daly specialises in gastrointestinal, haematolymphoid, and lung pathology, with extensive expertise in digital pathology, coronial and hospital autopsy pathology, and translational research. He has held senior consultant and academic positions at leading UK institutions including Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospitals NHS Trust, and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
A Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, Professor El-Daly is actively involved in postgraduate medical education, specialist training, and international pathology collaboration. His research interests focus on digital pathology, artificial intelligence, haematopathology, and molecular diagnostics. He has led and collaborated on pioneering research projects in computational pathology and digital image analysis, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributions to international pathology guidelines and textbooks.

Dr. Ashraf Ibrahim
Consultant Histopathologist
Dr. Ashraf Ibrahim is a highly experienced Consultant Histopathologist with more than 20 years of clinical, academic, and research expertise in diagnostic histopathology, molecular pathology, and coronial post-mortem practice. He currently practices as a consultant histopathologist and the Pathology Laboratory Director as well as served as the Cellular Pathology Clinical lead and Director of Research and Development at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Ibrahim has previously held senior academic and consultant positions at the University of Cambridge and Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Dr. Ibrahim is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists with specialist expertise in gastrointestinal, breast, and molecular pathology. He has extensive experience providing pathology services for coroners, NHS and private healthcare providers, research institutions, and biotechnology companies, combining high-quality diagnostic practice with a strong translational research background.
His internationally recognised research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals, particularly in colorectal cancer, epigenetics, and molecular diagnostics.

Darren Williams
Biomedical Scientist
Darren Williams is a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist that has been working in the NHS for over 20 years. He completed his BSc and MSc in Biomedical Science at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge in 2007 and 2015 respectively. Darren is currently the Cellular Pathology Operational Lead Scientist at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, a role he has held for the past 2 years.
Prior to this he was a Senior Biomedical Scientist for 8 years, with specialist expertise in immunohistochemistry and specimen dissection; achieving the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection in this time.
Throughout his career Darren has shown he can organise people and systems to achieve multiple objectives. He is used to working under pressure to achieve goals and meet strict deadlines, utilising excellent communication skills in both an internal team setting and with external interactions. Darren is focused on developing our new state-of-the-art laboratory and digital pathology services while ensuring the highest clinical standards are achieved.
